Choosing your sale automation: 04, 04B and 04C
AppConnect has three sale automations that all react to the same Mindbody sale. Compare what each one sends, see how many messages a single transaction produces, and why multi-item transactions need 04B rather than 04.
AppConnect has three sale automations. All three react to the same thing — a completed sale in Mindbody. The difference is how each one breaks that sale up.
The three automations
| Automation | Sends | Use it when you want to know |
|---|---|---|
| 04 — New Sale | One message per sale | A purchase happened, who made it, and the total |
| 04B — New Sale Line Item | One message per item purchased | The specific service or product bought |
| 04C — New Sale Itemized Payment | One message per payment method used | How the client paid |
An example
A client buys a massage, a class pack and a water bottle in one transaction, and pays half in cash and half by card.
| Automation | Messages sent |
|---|---|
| 04 | 1 |
| 04B | 3 — one per item |
| 04C | 2 — one per payment |
With all three turned on, that single transaction sends 6 messages.
Note that this is a three-item transaction, so 04's single message may not arrive at all. The first warning below explains why.
Two things to watch
If your clients buy more than one item in a single transaction, use 04B rather than 04.
On a multi-item sale, 04 sends a message that the receiving app cannot read, and the sale may not come through at all — with no error shown anywhere, on your side or ours. Your Zap simply never runs for that sale.
04 is reliable for transactions containing a single item. 04B sends one message per item and is not affected, so it handles single-item and multi-item transactions alike.
Turning on more than one multiplies your payload usage. Every message counts against your monthly payload limit. 100 sales in a day is 100 messages with 04 alone, or 300 and up with all three on. You can monitor your usage and adjust your limit from the AppConnect menu — see Installing AppConnect.
Most common setups
| Your goal | Turn on |
|---|---|
| Track revenue and when purchases happen | 04B — or 04 if every transaction is a single item |
| Market based on what clients bought | 04B |
| Reconcile payments and tender types | 04C |
| Full detail, and payload volume is not a concern | 04B + 04C |
If you are not sure whether your clients buy more than one item at a time, choose 04B. It covers both cases.
You can change which automations are on at any time from your AppConnect dashboard.
